Perfection is Perfected

Tumblin' since da 80's.

Joe Blow feat. Bueno & Dubb 20 - “Dopest Out” (Been Grindin, 2013).

When I listen to rappers they all say they with the shit,

But every rapper I meet is a bitch—shit ain’t makin sense,

Rappin Ron the only rapper I don’t think I’m better than.

DJ Mustard f/ Joe Moses & YG - “Burn Rubber” (Mixtape, 2013)

In their holy quest for content it would appear that most, many or all rap bloggers have neglected to mention that this new DJ Mustard track is a featherweight homage to the single greatest Too $hort track of the 21st century with Mohawk echoes all up in the Grey Poupon. You need some toilet paper, rap bloggers.

Mustard’s Ketchup drops June 3rd.

I submit that Too $hort’s use of “burn rubber” stems from E-40.

IAMSU! feat. Juvenile, Problem, & Kool John - “100 Grand” (remix).  If Drake is in Big Tymers Su is in Hot Boys.

Hen Sippa feat. Baker Fam Lil Joe & Sirealz - “Devils” (Find Out, 2013).

Lil Rue feat. Husalah & Fed-X (prod. by RobLo) - “Murder State of Mind” (YouTube, 2013).

Shady Blaze

—Music Shield (Prod by DJ Burn One)

Shady Blaze - “Music Shield,” (BandCamp, 2013).  Shady’s new tape dropped today.  So far, so good.

DB Tha General - “Raze No Bitch” (YouTube, 2013).   Another visual off of DB’s decent mixtape.  This song features lyrics particularly germane on Mother’s Day.

Cousin Fik feat. Iamsu! - “Lick My Nuts!” (Trap Me Out, 2013).  Didn’t expect to like this song as much as I do.  Still working my way through Fik’s tape, which is too trap-y for Fik in my opinion.  It does feature “Rice,” which Riff Raff probably thinks he inspired.

RIP K.O. Da Bandit.  Thirtieth homicide in Oakland this year.  Not Chicago, but still wayyyyy too high.

Mitchy Slick feat. Philthy Rich & Boo Banga - “Quick to Get Clak” (Feet Match the Paint, 2013).

Knock.  And the deluxe edition of this album comes with the anti-white girl anthem Mojo!

Back in my dorm room, I rewind-pause-played my way through the shifting points of view of “Not Yet Free.” I memorized all three verses the same night I saw it and told my boy, Eric Caples — a formidable MC himself — that I’d just heard the perfect rap song.

—In 1993, Kiese Laymon would have sworn on everything he loved that hip-hop would never be the same after The Coup’s “Not Yet Free,” which turns 20 this year. (via nprmusic)

T-Bone the Dankster - “Livin the Life” (Straight Illegally, 1994).

The Mack Clan is the only rap group I can think of to come out of Daly City, which I guess shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.  But it’s so close to South San Francisco that maybe people have claimed (South) San Francisco when they’re really from Daly City.  Who knows?!

MondreM.A.N. - “Ha Haaa” (YouTube, 2013).

“Ain’t a Muslim or a Christian — just open-minded.”
